• Content: Posts, comments, messages, photos, videos, audio, location data (if you choose to share it)
• Payment Information: When you subscribe to Premium or pay a creator, payment details are processed by PayPal. We do not store your credit card or bank account information.
• Creator Information: If you set up monetization, your PayPal email address for receiving payments
• Communications: Any messages you send to us for support or feedback

2.2 Information Automatically Collected

When you use the Service, we automatically collect:

• Device Information: Device type, operating system, browser type, IP address
• Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, time spent, interactions with content
• Location Data: Approximate location derived from your IP address (not precise GPS unless you explicitly share it in posts)
• Cookies & Similar Technologies: We use cookies to maintain your session and remember preferences. See Section 8 for details.

2.3 Information from Third Parties

If you sign in using Google or Facebook OAuth, we receive:

• Your email address
• Your name (as provided by the OAuth provider)
• Your profile picture URL (if available)

We do not access your friends lists, contacts, or other data beyond what is necessary for authentication.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:

• With Other Users: Your profile information, posts, and public content are visible to other users as designed by the Service. Direct messages are only visible to participants in the conversation.
• Service Providers: We use Supabase for database hosting, PayPal for payment processing, and Resend for transactional emails. These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
• Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
• Business Transfers: If My Chain Link is acquired or merged, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Data Storage & Security

5.1 Where We Store Data

Your data is stored on Supabase servers located in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer and storage of your data in the United States. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers.

5.2 Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• TLS/SSL encryption for all data in transit
• Password hashing using bcrypt
• Optional two-factor PIN authentication
• Row-level security (RLS) on database tables
• Regular security audits and monitoring

However, no system is completely secure. You use the Service at your own risk and are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

6. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information through your profile settings
• Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data through Settings → Delete Account
• Restriction: Request that we limit processing of your data
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format
• Objection: Object to certain types of processing
• Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for optional processing (e.g., marketing emails)

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account:

• Your profile, posts, comments, and messages are permanently deleted within 30 days
• Some data may be retained in backups for up to 90 days
• Transaction records may be retained for legal and tax compliance purposes (up to 7 years)
• Anonymized usage data may be retained for analytics

8. Cookies & Tracking

We use only the following types of cookies, all strictly necessary for the Service to function. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies:

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and account registration requires a date of birth confirming the user is at least 18 years old. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, contact us immediately and we will delete it.

10. Third-Party Links & Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., PayPal, social media). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

11. International Users

If you are accessing the Service from outside Canada, your data will be transferred to and processed in Canada and the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the Service or by email. The "Last Updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
